LT1964ES5-BYP

LT1964 is a micropower low-noise negative low dropout linear regulator. E stands for extended industrial temperature range, S5 represents 5-lead TSOT-23 miniature surface mount package. BYP denotes the variant with dedicated reference bypass pin, the shutdown pin is internally tied to input power to reserve the noise reduction function. The component is supplied in lead-free tape-and-reel packaging for automated mass SMT assembly.

This negative LDO is designed for dual-supply analog circuits requiring clean negative bias voltage. It can sink maximum 200mA continuous output current, with typical dropout voltage of 340mV under full load condition.

The device features adjustable negative output ranging from -1.22V to -20V, configured through external resistor divider based on the internal -1.22V precision reference. With a small capacitor connected to the BYP pin, total output noise is reduced to 30μV RMS within 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth, greatly suppressing power noise interference for precision analog modules.

Typical quiescent operating current is only 30μA, which minimizes idle power consumption for battery-powered equipment. The internal shutdown function is disabled on this version, so the chip keeps running continuously once powered on.

It maintains stable operation with merely 1μF output ceramic capacitor, compatible with multilayer ceramic, tantalum and aluminum electrolytic capacitors without extra series resistance requirement. Built-in comprehensive safety protections include cycle-by-cycle current limiting, thermal shutdown foldback protection and reverse output voltage prevention, avoiding chip damage under short-circuit, overheating and abnormal voltage conditions. Outstanding power supply rejection ratio effectively filters input ripple and high-frequency switching noise.

Encapsulated in ultra-small 5-pin TSOT-23 thin plastic package with slim thickness, occupying minimal PCB space for compact handheld instruments, portable test equipment and miniature signal processing boards. Moisture Sensitivity Level is MSL1, no time limitation applies to reflow soldering after the sealed package is opened. Continuous tape reel feeding fully matches automatic placement machinery for uninterrupted large-scale electronic production.

The operating junction temperature range covers -40°C to +125°C, enabling reliable long-term operation in industrial transmitters, laboratory precision measuring instruments, medical analytical devices and audio signal processing equipment under extreme temperature variations.
