Core Characteristics
Flexible channel layout options
Two primary operating configurations are available. The entire eight channels can be set as low-side switches for straightforward on-off load control. Alternatively, four bidirectional channels paired with four fixed low-side channels can be deployed. The first four channels can be arranged into H-bridge circuits, with integrated freewheeling paths for PWM regulated inductive loads, removing the need for external flyback diodes. Operation can be controlled either through SPI serial communication or parallel PWM input signals.
SPI control and full fault diagnosis system
All chip configuration settings, output switching operations and fault status retrieval are completed via SPI bus. Adjustable signal slew rate is integrated to restrain switching noise and improve electromagnetic compatibility performance. Each individual channel carries independent diagnostic capabilities, covering open load detection, short circuit to ground, short circuit to battery terminal and overcurrent safeguard. Overcurrent faults can be configured as latched state or automatic recovery mode per channel demands.
Multistage protective design
Global thermal shutdown function halts all outputs once the chip overheats to avoid permanent damage under prolonged overload conditions. Every pin is strengthened to withstand automotive voltage surges, load dump pulses and electrostatic discharges. Undervoltage lockout mechanism prevents unstable output actions when supply voltage drops below the valid threshold.
Automotive reliability optimization
Exposed thermal pad design enhances heat dissipation during sustained high-load operation. Halogen-free packaging materials satisfy RoHS environmental requirements for automotive applications. Multiple low-power sleep modes cut down static power draw when vehicles remain parked for long periods.
