W5500 is the official core model of the third-generation hardwired TCP/IP Ethernet controller series, optimized on the basis of W5200 with higher SPI communication speed and lower power consumption.
Core Function & Electrical Specifications
It adopts full hardware TCP/IP protocol logic, independently processing all network protocol operations without occupying MCU computing resources. Built-in supported protocols include TCP, UDP, IPv4, ICMP, ARP, IGMP and PPPoE. It supports 8 independent hardware sockets running concurrently, with 32KB on-chip configurable transmit/receive buffer RAM to ensure stable data transmission throughput. Integrated 10/100Mbps adaptive Ethernet MAC+PHY layer, auto-negotiates transmission rate and duplex mode automatically, directly connects to network isolation transformer and RJ45 interface. Host communication adopts SPI bus (Mode 0/3), maximum SPI clock up to 80MHz, greatly improving data interaction efficiency compared with earlier generations. Operating supply voltage is 3.3V with IO pins tolerant to 5V logic level, compatible with both 3.3V and 5V single-chip systems directly. Low-power functions include hardware power-down mode (standby current below 10μA) and UDP-based Wake-on-LAN remote wakeup function. Reserved interrupt pin and four LED driving pins for network link status, data transmission indication. Industrial grade operating temperature range: -40℃ ~ +85℃.
Packaging & Assembly Requirements
Standard package is 48-pin LQFP lead-free surface mount package, chip size 7mm×7mm with 0.5mm pin pitch. It belongs to MSL3 moisture sensitive device; reflow soldering must be finished within 168 hours after vacuum packaging opening. Tape-and-reel packaging is available for automatic SMT placement on production lines.
